Following a ballot of members of the Cheshire West and Chester Council Conservative Group on Monday 25th November 2024, Cllr Simon Eardley was elected as the new Deputy Leader.
Commenting, Cllr Eardley said:
"I am grateful to my colleagues in the Conservative Group of Cheshire West and Chester Council who, earlier this week, elected me as the Deputy Group Leader. I am not in the habit of ‘collecting titles’ for the sake of it and will use this new position to campaign further – and strongly – in the interests of the Saughall and Mollington Ward as a whole, and indeed the wider borough.
Increasingly the message that it is ‘time for a change’ in our borough resonates with people on a range of issues. It has been my privilege to speak up whenever I can over the last five years on behalf of all parishes in the ward – Backford, Capenhurst & Ledsham, Lea-by-Backford, Mollington, Puddington & District and Saughall & Shotwick Park – on matters both large and small. That commitment continues and always will."
