As I always try to do, I attended the September 2024 meeting of Mollington Parish Council and offered report on issues and matters of interest to the area. My comments (taken from a Facebook post) are below.
"How stunning the September sky was as I arrived for the latest meeting of Mollington Parish Council this evening. It was good to be with the team and update them on a number of ongoing and new issues in the parish, including:
Efforts to address longstanding drainage issues on Grove Road, including challenges relating to the maintenance of ditches and roadside gullies
Work that will be done by CWaC to re-seed the wildflower area at the junction of Townfield Lane and Parkgate Road in due course so that it will thrive as a vibrant area of both colour and biodiversity
CWaC Councillor Member Budget commitments I have made to both the pre-school (£500) and the primary school (£500)
An agreement to purchase, again from my Member Budget, 400 new tulip bulbs for planting in the parish to hopefully bring about some additional springtime colour
Ongoing efforts to see the cycle path from Demage Lane through to Bridle Lane properly and well maintained so the route is actually fully navigable!
Outstanding issues that I need to follow up, including works to trees outside Tarrant Court and along Well Lane
A request I will submit to CWaC for 'siding out' works on the pavement along Parkgate Road from the Mollington Banastre down towards the canal bridge - on safety grounds as there is no regular budget allocated for these works otherwise
Positive news around the resolution of longstanding drainage matters in the lay-by near the Shropshire Union Canal bridge.
There's always plenty going on! I am pleased to work alongside the parish council to make progress on these and any other matters of interest locally."
